Cemetery Expansion, Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, California

Hultgren – Tillis Engineers performed geotechnical investigations for grading and development of several sections within Mountain View Cemetery for new gravesites.  The sloping hillside was regraded to provide mild slopes for visiting the planned graves.  Keyways were excavated and subdrains were installed as fill was placed.  A storm drain inlet was placed within the graded area to collect surface water and for the subdrains.  The improvements included areas for personal mausoleums, niches and an outdoor amphitheater.
